CXInsight e-Collaboration

The majority of communication between the design environment and the manufacturing industry during the development of a project is based on e-mails and phone calls. Too often exchange of crucial information and vital agreements are based upon these two often unreliable forms of communication that can lead to mistakes, misunderstandings and problems. Most formal PLM/PDM systems claim to have e-collaboration capabilities, but in reality are no more than a vault directory outside the firewall where a collaboration partner can pick up a dataset. This is not e-collaboration, but data transfer in a less secure way.

CXInsight enables dynamic, real-time and secure e-collaboration by allowing multi-directional communication (128 bit encrypted) and feedback through the firewall between the design and manufacturing teams as well as all the other partners in the supply chain over the Internet. A six-layer safety structure guarantees an absolute secure collaboration environment:

  • Firewall: IP to IP and defined port number
  • CXInsight database IP based domain permissions
  • Project member invitation (name, company, e-mail address, domain)
  • Individual member user name and password
  • Roles driven functionality (no role, no access)
  • Special access rights and security override

Collaborative Project Management

A project manager is able to establish a new ‘project room' within CXInsight where he/she invites internal and external project members and grants them access to the project by means of the member definitions. These member definitions contain information such as, user account and password details, the role of a member within the project and the project data access rights. Different members can work concurrently on a particular project allowing collective data access, stored in one place on the CXI server.

For all members, the project room acts as the single point of data access for all structured and unstructured project data. Internal members gain access via the internal network or intranet and external members gain access over the Internet. Most members have restricted access rights to the project where they will find information that is only relevant to them.

Graphical Compare of E-CAD Files

It can be extremely difficult to compare different revisions of design data sets. CXInsight offers visualisation tools including two embedded graphical viewers (ODB++ and CAMCAD) to rapidly compare E-CAD files in both a graphical and text way.
