CXInsight Change Management (ECR/ECO)
Engineering Change Request / Engineering Change Order (ECR/ECO) management is a key function of a PLM system. CXInsight ECO/ECR supports the full range of simple to complex product changes, divided in two categories: automatic object revisions (minor) and ECR/ECO driven document revisions (major). The automatic object revisions are part of the embedded CXInsight automatic revision control mechanism that keeps track of even the smallest modifications and is eventually part of the formal document revision.
CXInsight Change Management includes product change effectiveness handling by means of the release-to-production facility.
General ECR/ECO driven change procedure:
- Enter change request task (ECR) - Task management
- Describe problem or symptoms
- Include reference material (documents, pictures etc.)
- Project manager initiates ECO
- Approve ECR
- Assign task to project member(s)
- Organize start and due dates
- Allocate dependencies (task, technical, logistic)
- ECO executed by project member(s)
- Identify the problem
- Propose solution(s) to the problem
- Implement the solution
- ECO QA
- Project management (multiple) sign off
